UNDER-16s player Luca Navarro bagged a brace to help Wanderers Under-18s to a 3-1 home victory against Hull City on Saturday.

After the international break, David Lee’s side were back in action in the U18 Professional Development League 2 and secured a first win in four matches thanks to Navarro’s double and a goal from Jack Earing.

The young Whites began brightly and took the lead when Navarro coolly slotted home from six yards after fellow U16 graduate Matthew Fearnley’s shot was spilled by the Tigers keeper.

Max Allen then saw an effort hit the bar as Wanderers continued to dominate.

Earing doubled the lead before half time with a fine strike from 20 yards which arrowed into the top corner.

In the second half, Hull reduced the arrears but the two-goal advantage was restored when Navarro glanced a header home from eight yards from Ryan White’s left-wing cross.

And Lee’s youngsters held on for the three points.

The coach told The Bolton News: “It was a dominant performance throughout.

“The possession was excellent with us creating good phases of play and scoring two good goals in the first half.

“In the second half we conceded a goal through a lack of concentration.

“But we made amends when Ryan White delivered the perfect left-wing cross for Luca Navarro to head home from eight yards.

“It was a pleasing performance, especially with two under-16 players involved.

“They both made positive impressions and took their chance with Alex Samizadeh on the first-team bench at the weekend.”

The U18s are at home again tomorrow when they host Oldham Athletic in the Lancashire FA Professional Youth Cup.
