BOLTON Futsal Under-12s will compete in the Futsal National Final in Birmingham on Saturday.

The team, which is managed by Mic Parish and Matt Carr, consists of Joel Burgess (captain), Max Woolham (goalkeeper), Ted Woolham, Sam Kinsella, Jack Needham, Ruairi Behan and Benny McCarthy won through two tournaments to qualify for the national final – a local tournament at Belle Vue Sports Centre and a regional tournament at Tranmere Football Club.

The team, who has been picked from players at Bolton Futsal Club, have only been playing futsal for a year and have yet to lose a game, winning many other local tournaments prior to qualifying for the nationals.

"The boys have played brilliantly to achieve their place in the nationals in a sport which they have only been playing for a year," said Carr.

"Considering five of our players are under-11s and are therefore playing a year up makes it even more of an achievement.

"Every game they play they seem to get better and we cannot wait to test ourselves against teams from all over England.

"To represent the North West is fantastic and if the boys play to their full potential you never know what might happen."

Futsal is an indoor version of five-aside football played with a low bounce ball.
