BOLTON Lads and Girls Club benefited from the return of a charity football tournament, to the tune of nearly £2,000.

A dozen teams from local businesses took part in the competition at Tatton Lane and the 12 competing corporations played a round-robin group stage in the hope of making the knock-outs.

Supporting the club fundraiser were Clever IT, Cowgirls, Fieldings Porter Solicitors, Russell and Russell Solicitors, Liquid Roofing, Stephensons Solicitors, Harry Peers Steelwork, Eric Wright Construction, Inquest Canine Security and Bromak Recruitment.

When the final two squared off for the final it was the Yorkshire Bank team whose scoresheet was in the black as they registered a 3-0 win against 3B Training.

Organiser Phil Thompson, a long-time member of the club, said: "I was very pleased with the support we received from the local businesses, we had 12 teams and it all ran very smoothly, apart from the weather, which meant we had to cut the games to 10 minutes but everyone should be congratulated for their manner and the way they supported us.

"We are very grateful."
