PHIL Parkinson accepts his players deserved to be booed off the pitch after a 2-0 defeat to Oxford United.
Home fans voiced their anger at the Macron after late goals from Wes Thomas and Chris Maguire condemned Wanderers to a third defeat in five games.
Parkinson’s side have failed to score in four games and have now not won in eight in league and cup.
But the manager believes defeat to Oxford was a low point – and had no answer to the furious reaction from fans at the final whistle.
“It’s the poorest we’ve played all season and I’m hugely disappointed. I take full responsibility for it as a manager,” he said.
“We had a great start to the season – we were resilient and hard to beat, first and foremost.
“We are lacking quality at the moment in important areas, but when you’re not producing moments to create chances and to score goals, you’ve got to make sure there’s a work ethic and a discipline about you without the ball and there was too much space on the pitch today.
“That performance wasn’t good enough.
“I think supporters anywhere across the world if you get beat at home and you don’t show enough to try and get the result, they’re going to respond the way they did, so I fully accept that.”
