BOLTON’S Lisa Ashton remains on course for a third British Darts Organisation world title in four years after an impressive semi-final triumph against Aileen De Graaf today.
The Johnson Fold star won 2-0 in sets against the world number one in quickfire time at the Lakeside Country Club to secure a place in the final for the fourth time tomorrow.
The 26-year-old from the Netherlands had no response to Ashton as she won the first set 3-0 in legs and despite winning a first leg in the second set, Boltonian Ashton won the other three to continue her recent run of good form.
Speaking to Channel 4 after her victory, Ashton said: “It may have looked easy but it wasn’t – I knew I had to play well because Aileen is a very good player.
“She may not have been at her best but I still had to take my chances.
“I just concentrated on playing my own game and thankfully it paid off.
“Hopefully I can play as well in the final but it will be another tough match.”
Ashton’s final takes place tomorrow when she will look to reclaim the trophy she won in both 2014 and 2015.
