KEARSLEY ended Lostock’s hot streak to keep within touching distance of league leaders Bradshaw with victory on Saturday.

The Springfield Road side hosted the Chew Moor outfit, who arrived on the back of three successive wins against Horwich, Heaton and Clifton in the Lancashire Knockout.

Mohammed Jameel bowled 5-34 and 16-year-old Jack Berry, playing his first match since re-signing from Horwich, took 3-15 as the Chew Moor Road side were dismissed for 102.

Nick Jeffs was the only batter of note, hitting 20.

Chris Baxendale (43no) batted straight through in reply as Kearsley saw off the target with six wickets remaining, despite David Flanagan’s (3-46) best efforts with the ball.

The win means they sit second in the table, six points behind Bradshaw, and skipper Grant Cordin is calling for his side’s form to continue.

“We just need to keep this going now,” Cordin said. “We don’t want to worry about anybody below or above us, we just have to focus on what we know we can do.

“It was very hot and both sides wanted to bat first with how the wicket was but they won the toss.

“We had to bowl first but did so very well with Mohammad Jameel doing particularly well.

“Jack Berry impressed too. He has only just returned to the club but to take three wickets at 16 years old is fantastic.

“We were more than happy to limit them to 102 and then we just saw it off from there.

“Chris (Baxendale) has been rock-solid most of the season and he did the damage again for us.”

Bradshaw remain at the summit of the table with an easy victory at Heaton.

Batting first, the Lower Pools outfit struggled with only opener Matt Fray (14) hitting double figures.

Tom Liversedge was the man in fine form with the bat and ball – bowling 5-7, before scoring 29 not out with the bat.

Stuart Hornby also knocked 40 as the chase was completed with only one wicket down.
