TEMPEST United moved into second place in the West Lancashire League Premier Division, following their 7-0 thumping of Whitehaven.

Nathan Monson struck twice in the opening quarter of the game, either side of Jack Iley’s goal and, with Sam Parkinson also finding the net late in the half Tempest went into the break four goals to the good.

Elliott Hailwood made it 5-0 early in the second half and after Tom Booth’s goal on the hour mark Tom Darby completed the rout 10 minutes from time.

The result means Tempest, with nine points from four away games, sit three points behind leaders Blackpool Wren Rovers. They play only their second home fixture tonight, hosting Euxton Villa.

Their top-flight rivals Turton did not fare so well though, going down 4-0 at Garstang. Neil Hart’s men will hope for better when they welcome Coppull United this evening.

In Division One Ash Farlow struck twice with Ben Thornton also on target as CMB ran out 3-0 winners at Askam United.

Stoneclough were also victorious on the road, beating Kendal County 2-1. Dane Barlow Jefferies and Jason Perry scored their goals in quick succession and, although Kendal pulled one back in the last minute, they move to fourth in the table.

Eagley took their first point away from home, in their goalless draw at Lostock St Gerard’s. The Eagles are back on the road tonight, making the short journey to Stoneclough.

Ladybridge maintained their 100 per cent record with an emphatic 6-3 victory at Kendal United.

With a hat-trick for Benson Johnson, two goals by Nial Callighan and one for Michael Rice they chalked up win number five on Saturday.

Ahead of playing Euxton Villa’s reserve team yesterday evening, they topped the Division Two table, ahead of Millom on goal difference.
