CUP day brought mixed results for local teams, with Premier Division side Turton the day’s big winners.

The Tigers progressed in the Richardson Cup at Hesketh Bank’s expense, Kieran Sisson hitting a hat-trick after Luke Bradbury’s opening goal to give them a 4-1 victory.

Sisson even found the time to take a stint in goal in the last five minutes.

Turton, fifth in the Premier Division table, travel to Leigh Athletic in the Lancashire FA Amateur Shield on Saturday.

Their top-flight rivals Tempest United were not in action as their tie at Vickerstown was postponed.

Tempest are also in Shield action on Saturday, hosting Lytham Town.

In the President’s Cup Eagley lost out in a penalty shoot-out following their 1-1 draw at home to Wyre Villa.

Player-manager Simon Whaley had given Eagley a fifth-minute lead but after being pegged back midway through the first half they were beaten 5-4 on penalties.

Stoneclough also suffered a first-round exit from the President’s Cup, losing 2-0 at Hurst Green.

They welcome Poulton for a Lancashire FA Shield tie this Saturday.

Booking their place in the second round of the President’s Cup were CMB, who won 3-1 at Hawcoat Park.

Michael Ford, Dan Crook and Matthew Chapman were on target for Rob Pennington’s side, who host Furness Cavaliers this weekend.

In Division Two of the West Lancashire League, Ladybridge dropped their first points of the campaign, though they remain top of the table and unbeaten after eight games.

They drew 2-2 at Charnock Richard reserves, with Chris Donohue scoring in the second half to add to an own goal 13 minutes in.

They take on Walney Island at home on Saturday.
