ADLINGTON have signed Kamran Hussain as their professional for next season.

The left-arm spinner and left-hand batsman replaces Majid Majeed who was pro at the club for the last nine years.

Hussain has spent the last several seasons playing in the Liverpool Competition second tier where he represented two clubs, Alder and Liscard.

He is British-based and last season scored 800 runs and took 42 wickets.

He has been brought in predominantly for his batting ability, an area the club believe was lacking in strength last season when they finished sixth in the Bolton League second-tier Association Division.

Adlington chairman Nick Chamberlain said: "We're hoping he'll bring something different for us.

"It was our runs which let us down last year and Kamran's 800 runs last season suggests he might be able to help us with that.

"He'll supplement Iain Critchley and Jack Shovelton bowling-wise but it is mainly for his batting that we've signed him.

"He was recommended to us and the person who recommended him said he was a good batsman."
