DENNIS Politic scored twice as Wanderers Under-18s came from 3-0 down to draw 4-4 in a fiery encounter at Leeds United on Saturday.
The young Whites went into the game across the Pennines on a run of three U18 Professional Development League games unbeaten.
But early pressure from the hosts saw them edge ahead after 10 minutes.
Nicky Spooner's side responded well and went close to a leveller through Matty Barnes.
But in first-half stoppage time, Leeds made it 2-0 in fortuitous circumstances when a cross from the right was diverted into his own goal by Matty Fearnley.
Two goals down at the break, Wanderers were on the back foot at the start of the second half and Leeds made it 3-0 early on.
But that sparked Wanderers into life and they began to hit back at the hosts.
Politic reduced the arrears when he ran from deep to score from an acute angle and he then linked up with Eddie Brown, playing a one-two in the box before netting his second to make it 3-2.
The comeback stalled when, just two minutes after that goal, Leeds scored a fourth from the penalty spot.
But the young Whites were not finished and Brown got on the scoresheet when he converted Luca Navarro's left-wing cross.
The hosts were reduced to 10 men after a challenge on Politic and that saw Wanderers begin to dominate possession.
And they were level when Max Broughton headed home from a Navarro corner.
Leeds were down to nine men after another foul on Politic but despite Wanderers hitting the post twice late on, the hosts held on for a share of the spoils.
