TWO of the Harriers’ regular winners had back-to-back weekends of success.

Richard Howarth, having been selected for England, celebrated with a win at the Badger Trail race at Cuerden Valley on Thursday and followed up with yet another parkrun first at the same venue on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Rob Jackson won the Northern Masters 5k gold medal last week and this week was first V50 finisher at the We Love Manchester 10k where he was pleased with his 31st place in a field of more than 1,600 runners – especially as he was presented with his prize by the great Ron Hill, veteran Olympian and former world record holder.

The Harriers had a big presence of junior athletes at Chorley A&TC’s Astley Park trail races on a very warm Wednesday evening.

Toby Middleton came down from success on the fells to take third place and Milly Lever followed up her second place on the sand at Abersoch with first female at Astley Park.

Georgina Heath (F13) and Lucy Dixon (F12) were also age-category winners, as was Isaac Battye (M12) for the boys.

Noah Bracegirdle had a promising debut for the Harriers with second place at M12 and Imogen Andreassen (F10) and Gabriella Collings (F8) continue to impress with age-category second places.

Gareth Booth was second at Astley Park in the seniors’ race, while his sister, Erica, was third female as she prepares for more endeavours on the international triathlon calendar.

James Jordan followed up his success at the City of Manchester 5k series with sixth place at Astley Park.

Tony Hesketh had another busy week as he took first M70 prizes at both Astley Park and then the Tockholes evening fell race on successive nights.

He had also won the M70 prize at the Harrock Hill fell race the week before.

It was a relatively quiet week for parkrun results.

Apart from Richard Howarth at Cuerden Valley, the feature performance this week was from Robert Seddon at Bolton parkrun where he was fourth overall and got a new personal best of 18mins 52secs.
