AN eight-strong Lostock AC team headed to Haslingden for the annual running of the Pilgrims Cross midweek fell race.
Starting in Haslingden, the six-mile race climbs to Holcombe Moor and Harcles Hill above Ramsbottom before returning to Haslingden after 1,100 feet of ascent.
Albert Sunter and Tony Marlow set the early pace for the Lostock team with Sunter the first green vest home in 48mins 4secs – just four seconds ahead of his ultramarathon partner Marlow, to finish third in his age group.
Fresh from her endeavours at the Lakeland 100, Josie Greenhalgh was the first Lostock woman home in a time of 52:08 to finish fifth woman overall and third in her very strong age group.
Chris Taylor finished in 53:09, while Abigail Sunter and Rachael Hancock were the 11th and 13th-placed women in a field of 192 with respective times of 57:25 and 58:20.
Michele Sunter achieved the third age-group top three for Lostock with another third place in a time of 1:01:53, while Jocelyn Chadderton finished in an equally-strong time of 1:05:19.
At Haigh Hall parkrun, Andy Laycock finished in 23:12, David Wilcock came home in 27:14 and Alison Wilcock clocked 37:23.
