WANDERERS keeper Luke Hutchinson has been taken to hospital after colliding with an opponent whilst playing for Atherton Colls against Lancaster City.

The 18-year-old was stretchered off just before half time in the Northern Premier League game at the Skuna Stadium.

Lancaster’s Ben Hudson was also injured in the incident, with both players taken to Bolton Royal Hospital after the game, which Colls went on to win 3-1.

Speaking last week, Wanderers boss Ian Evatt tipped teenager Hutchinson to make the most of his loan at Colls after getting some good early feedback from the club.

“We get sent the games and we monitor them,” he said. “We also get Brad (Cooke’s) reports on how he thinks he’s done and we can analyse it ourselves and make our own minds up.

“He trains with us every day. Luke is a very talented young goalkeeper. He has potential but at the moment it is just potential. He has to realise that potential, which means staying humble, hard work every single day, striving to improve, making sure he goes there and gives a good account of himself, both as a person and as a football player, and I think he’s doing that.

“He has lots of improvement to come but certainly we feel like he is a very talented young player and he has a right chance of making a difference to our football club and our first team in the future.”

Hutchinson was up against his team-mate Matt Alexander, who is also out on loan, at Lancaster City.
