Blackrod ABC secured gold for all four teenage talents they entered into the Covilha Box Cup international tournament in Portugal.

On a successful weekend for the club, the quartet trained by former professional Rick Godding, who is head coach, alongside Mike Linfoot and Ian Prescott, all went all the way to become champions in their respective weight divisions.

The competition involves fighters from all over the world, including Spain, Germany, Poland and host nation Portugal, with four per weight class competing over two days with semi-finals and then a final.

The four from Blackrod who were crowned ring kings included 13-year-old Caden McKinley, fighting at 43kg, 15-year-old Charlie Linfoot at 57kg, 16-year-old Jack Doran, also at 57kg, and 17-year-old Umar Khan at 51kg.

Head coach Godding, himself hailing from Blackrod, was naturally delighted for all four of his young fighters and praised their efforts.
