Daisy Hill have no game on Saturday but are back in action in the North West Counties League First Division North on Tuesday, when they travel to face Nelson.

Although they recorded a fine 4-0 win at Steeton last Saturday, Daisy came back down to earth with a crash on Monday evening when they lost 5-0 at home to Ashton Athletic.

And as a consequence, manager Lee Hill is bringing the players in on Saturday to prepare for Tuesday’s game.

“After that performance on Monday night, the lads let themselves down and let the management team down, so we will train as usual on Thursday and will have an extra session on Saturday,” said Hill.

“We were planning to give them the day off, but after Monday they have lost that privilege.

“If they don’t put the effort in on a Monday night, they will have to put it on Saturday now, and show us that they are ready for the next game.

“Nelson are scrapping for points and have signed some good players, so we know it’s going to be a difficult game and a difficult place to go and get something.

“Every game now is going to be a scrap, so we have to be sure we turn up with the right attitude and the right mindset to go there and pick up three points, rather than go there trying to play some pretty football.”
