MEMBERS of the Bolton Wanderers Supporters’ Trust are being actively encouraged to put themselves forward to help shape the future of the club.

Applications to become a board member of the Trust must be sent before 5pm on Tuesday, March 26, with voting set to begin at the start of April.

The Trust has become increasingly influential in recent years, now engaging in regular dialogue with the Wanderers hierarchy and assisting in some major decisions, including ticket pricing, kit design, the FanZone and matchday transport.

The group – established in early 2016 – has become a prominent voice under the current ownership and its close association with the Disabled Supporters Association has also led to significant improvements around the stadium including the introduction of an accessible passport scheme, the changing place toilet, the quiet room and audio descriptive commentary.

The Trust is open to new ideas and welcomes representation from all Wanderers supporter groups, with elections due to be held by online ballot between April 2 and April 16. Results will be announced on April 23.

Recently, the Trust lost the services of Ian Bridge, a long-standing member of the group who has been instrumental in establishing and improving he BWFCST over the last eight years.

Mr Bridge, a lifelong Wanderers fan, has recently returned home from a spell in hospital in Wigan and is now making progress after a serious illness, and all at The Bolton News wish him the very best in his recovery.

Anyone who wishes to know more about the election process, or what they may be able to offer the Supporters’ Trust, contact @enquiries@bwfcst.co.uk.
