DAVID Cameron is today launching a new nationwide youth initiative in Bolton alongside boxing star Amir Khan.

The Conservative leader has chosen to officially launch the Young Adult Trust charity at the Olympic silver medallist's new not-for-profit Gloves Gym in Prince Street.

The charity was set up last year in response to a challenge by Mr Cameron to revitialise youth work and its work is being backed by Amir.

At today's launch, Mr Cameron will announce locations of youth projects to be piloted by the charity.

Mr Cameron, whose visit to Bolton will be his third since becoming party leader, wants youngsters to be rewarded for taking more responsibility during their transition to adulthood.

Bolton Conservative group leader, Cllr John Walsh, welcomed news of the visit. He said: "We are obviously delighted such a major announcement is being made by David Cameron in Bolton.

"This will further put the spotlight on the need for improved youth facilities in the borough and on involving young people if we are going to tackle issues like anti-social behaviour.

Shadow work and pensions secretary Chris Grayling is also in Bolton today . He will visit the Kingsbury Court Lodge sheltered housing project in Kingsley Avenue with Trafford Council leader Susan Williams, who will challenge Ruth Kelly in Bolton-west at the next general election.
