THE Bolton Cricket League may ask six former Bolton Association clubs who have not yet resigned to do so.

Six of the nine clubs who moved from the Association to the League when the former lost all its 18 clubs after last season – Adlington, Little Hulton, Daisy Hill, Lostock, Standish and Golborne – have not yet resigned.

It is understood some if not all of them have not done so purely because they did not feel it was necessary.

It is a condition of membership of the League Cricket Conference – an organisation which brings leagues together to exchange information and ideas for mutual benefit – that leagues can only to accept clubs who have resigned from their former league.

The LCC would only act if they received a complain from another league, which it is understood has not happened in this case.

The Bolton League want to clear up the matter to avoid any clubs who are considering joining them thinking that some of its new clubs may be leaving.

The League have put the issue on the agenda for their monthly meeting on Monday.

Secretary Ray Taylor said: "The Bolton League are looking for clarification from some of our newer clubs.

"Whilst I am sympathetic to the position the Bolton Association find themselves in I am concerned that while there are any loose ends it could impact on our recruitment."
