SO, having been roundly slated for last week's column, and especially with regard to my honest opinion of the GMCL decision to cancel all games, it's maybe time to put this to bed.

Firstly, I am not one of the so-called bitter ones at the demise of the BDCA.

Neither have I a vendetta or any axes to grind with said GMCL or anyone involved with it. Indeed, it was quite feasible that my club could have been part of it too but the players (and only them) voted unanimously to stay with the new Bolton set-up.

There are people that I have known for a long time who have gone that way and will miss on a personal basis.

I hope all leagues achieve what they're striving for – certainly the website and information on the GMCL has taken it to another level.

Hopefully at some point I will get out and about to see some of it. The opinion on the abandoned games was an honest one, and I think it has now been accepted as a mistake by those concerned.

It also appears that rearranged dates have been set up.

I find it strange that the two people who were quite vocal accused me of concentrating more on their league than ours. Strange then that they're reading this in the first place – I can only hope they don't play golf as a rusty driver may not be much use.

As for Saturday, many congratulations to Nick Fawcett on his unbeaten 101 – an excellent effort. Hopefully to quote another phrase used: we can all move on!

Until next week – probably.
