THE West Lancashire League, which features six Bolton League third teams, has completed three weeks.

In the first week only one game survived the weather, Westhoughton's trip to Goose Green, which proved to be full of runs with Westhoughton batting first and scoring 282-6 in their 40 overs.

Jordan Higham (101 retired not out) and Arun Pindoria (100 retired no) scored more than two thirds of the runs.

In reply Goose Green struggled to 162-7 before running out of overs and giving Westhoughton their first victory in their new league.

The following week saw two Bolton League sides in action, Golborne away to Sutton and Daisy Hill at Preston.

Batting first Golborne scored 126-7 in a game reduced to 34 overs a side, Tim Halliday top scoring with 53 not out.

In reply, Sutton never really got going and collapsed to 54 all out with Joe Peacock recording excellent figures of 4-21 runs off seven overs and Jack Downs and Joe Bright also picking up two wickets each.

Chasing 98-6 in a 26-over match and with the light failing, Daisy Hill opener James Mann (61no) maintained a good pace to ensure the Bolton League side ran out easy winners with nine overs to spare.

After the following week's fixtures all fell foul of the weather, last week's programme saw all six Bolton League clubs scheduled to play in the first round of the Beardsley Cup.

Atherton’s game against Winstanley Park was called off as Winstanley Park could not raise a team.

Golborne hosted cup holders Blackrod and Westhoughton were at home to near neighbours Daisy Hill.

Golborne posted a respectable 195-8, with David Szostok scoring 62 not out. Daniel Robinson and Tony Tipping claimed two wickets apiece for Blackrod before their side replied with 185-6.

Mark Glover scored 38 runs and Matt Cockett 30 not out for the losing Blackrod men.

At St George’s Oval, Daisy Hill won the toss and scored 152, Darshan Varsani top scoring with 57.

Westhoughton's Connor Kirkman took 3-36 and Tjase Pindoria 3-34 before their team scored 153-6 with 10 overs to spare, Jordan Higham scoring 62 not out, while Daisy's Joe Leeming took 4-21.

Bradshaw played their first competitive game in the league travelling to Goose Green in the cup. They scored 265-9 in their 40 overs, with Matt Dewhurst scoring 33, Elliot Dargan 40, George Booth 46, Jordan Mason 50 and Rob Counsell 31. Goose Green replied with 89, Ross Dickinson taking 3-20.

Atherton host Bradshaw and Golborne are at home to Westhoughton in the second round on Sunday June 19.
