TWO of the quarter-finals in the Dixon Air Conditioning Twenty20 competition have been concluded with the other two between Farnworth Social Circle and Bradshaw and Kearsley versus Farnworth taking place this evening.

The winner of the Kearsley v Farnworth match will be at home to Lostock on Friday, July 15, while Westhoughton will meet FSC or Bradshaw at a venue to be determined.

Lostock reached the semis with victory at Horwich on Sunday. Batting first the visitors made 120 all out, with Jaydyn Simmons holding the innings together with 41 and Danny Cockton contributing an invaluable 28 from 20 deliveries late in the innings, including three sixes.

Joe Baldwin was the pick of the bowlers with 4-22.

Apart from Tom Billington with 31, none of the Horwich batsmen were able to master the Lostock bowling and ended on 94-8, with Connor Hicklin taking 3-13 and Rob Holgate 2-18.

On Tuesday evening, Westhoughton made 171-7 of which professional Qaiser Abbas scored 69 not out, supported by Danny Naylor (36) and Mikey King (20).

Cameron Murray took 3-37 for Darcy Lever and then was top scorer with 43 out of Darcy's 118-7. Kieran Edwards and Dan Higham took two wickets each.

The 40-Over competition, sponsored by Heineken, continues on Sunday and after no matches were completed on June 19.

This means with two sets of fixtures to be completed almost all teams can still top the groups and all teams can earn themselves a bye in the Hamer and Birtwistle Cups in 2017 with a top-two finish.
