FLAMING June was probably a sentiment echoed by players and officials everywhere this year, and unfortunately not for the right reasons.

July seems to have followed so far in the same manner, with the outlook for this weekend seeming uncertain, and a large amount of rain already in the early part of this week.

Everywhere I read on social media everyone appears to be making every attempt to get games on despite the awful conditions when you arrive at grounds.

With regard to this, although ultimately proved right, it was disappointing to see my club appear to have very little interest on Saturday, to the point that the opposition spent nearly two hours mopping up – a point not lost on their players or the umpires either.

I await my admonishment on Saturday!

Our second team almost got a full game in at Adlington and managed to snatch a positive result after being bowled out for 62 and Lostock being 28-0 before the rain came.

We can only hope for better in the coming weeks – I can't seem to remember a stop-start early part to a season like this.

Hope you all have a good weekend and get full games in.
