STEVEN Hood hit the highest Bolton League score of the season as Lostock continued their impressive form against Standish.

Smashing 19 fours and two sixes, wicketkeeper Hood knocked a mighty 158 not out.

David Flanagan added 73 and Rob Holgate finished on 38no as Lostock posted a mammoth score of 344-5.

Usman Khushnood hit 31 in reply, but Tom Sheen (5-18) and Holgate (4-27) impressed with the ball to bowl Standish out for 78.

Lostock skipper Geoff Earle said: “I am delighted to get the win and pleased to pick up the bonus point.

“The bonus point was always the aim at the beginning of the game.

“I'm absolutely delighted for Steven. He has been with us for a couple of seasons but struggled a little bit this year.

"He has worked really hard on the training ground and got his just rewards.

“It was a real patient knock, he bided his time well once he got in and remained composed throughout alongside Dave Flanagan.

“We don't focus on what clubs are around us. Our aim has always been to finish in the top half and it's really congested in the middle of the table so there is still a long way to go.”

Golborne suffered their sixth successive defeat away to second-placed Walkden.

Professional Muzammil Nizam struck 48no but brilliant bowling from Jonathan Fowler (5-52) and Tahir Maqsood had Golborne bowled out for 141.

Aiden Markram and Taylor Hayes, knocking 45 and 30 respectively, spearheaded Walkden's four-wicket win with the bat.

Nizam was the only bowler of note taking 4-46.

Agha Salman hit 118 and Asif Bhojani scored 54 as Eagley posted 260-7 against Astley Bridge.

Irfan Puda scored 55 in reply, but as the overs expired the Sharples Park outfit were stumped on 186-5.
