ROB Holgate bowled a six-wicket haul as Lostock climbed to second in the Bolton Premiership with a stunning victory at Horwich.

The Recreation Ground outfit were sitting pretty at the top of the table after winning both of their opening games of the season.

But they have been brought crashing back down as the former Bolton Association team continue to prove the doubters wrong.

The Chew Moor Lane side started well as opening batsman Daniel Vincent scored 30.

Third-placed batsman Matthew Leach then added 59 and Oliver Turner scored 32 not out as Lostock challenged their hosts to better a target of 207-6.

Harry McManus was the only bowler of note, taking 4-50.

Besides Brett Pelser, who batted from fourth till the death and scored an unbeaten 54, Horwich really struggled with the bat.

Holgate (6-38) led the bowling surge which ended with the hosts being dismissed for 104 as they dropped to third in the table.

Elsewhere, Bradshaw moved five points clear at the top of the table with a four-wicket victory at home to Westhoughton.

The visitors opened the batting but lost three early wickets for just 15 runs. Jordan Higham and Mark Atherton helped to save the innings with knocks of 27 and 52, before Charlie Honour chipped in with 22 not out.

Phil Dickinson and Jordan Mason took three wickets each as the Howfeners were bowled out for 181.

Tom Liversedge hit 89 in reply and Marwan Mohammad added 27 as the rain-reduced target of 159 was achieved.

Farnworth Social Circle returned to winning ways with victory over Eagley.

Ryan Ayres bowled a five-wicket haul and Chris Barrow took three victims as the Dunscar Outfit were limited to a score of 168-8 in their 50 overs.

Will Shuttleworth was the only batter of note, hitting 30.

David Tonge and Jake O’Bryne responded with a 43-run opening-wicket partnership, before Barrow turned his hand to the bat to score 32 not out which pushed the Piggott Park side to their rain-reduced target of 160 with six wickets down.

Farnworth picked up their first win of the season by thumping Heaton by 123 runs.

The Lavender Road side thoroughly impressed with the bat, starting with Ross Sutton who opened with a half-century.

Stand-in skipper Imran Mirza then added 45 before Shaquille Cumberbatch knocked 39.

Nakash Qamar chipped in with 24 late on as Farnworth ran up a tally of 252-8.

Raheel Majeed (35) and Joe Gatenby Brown (37) scored highly for Heaton in reply but Dan Higham’s stunning figures of 5-16 inside seven overs, along with Kamran Younas’ 5-49, bowled the hosts out for 129.

Kearsley recorded a convincing win away to Walkden.

Chris Baxendale knocked 85 and Richard Hamblett scored 35 as the Springfield Road side posted a total of 204.

Only Sayed Shah hit anything of note in reply – a respectable 31, which was not enough as Walkden were bowled out for 99 – Dave Mather (6-49) and Devendra Bundela (3-16) doing the damage with the ball.
