CENTURY star Clyde Fortuin struck his fourth hundred in seven games as Edgworth beat Unsworth in convincing style.

The GMCL Division One clash looked finished after the first innings after Fortuin struck 118 with the bat – taking his season’s tally up to 573.

Liam Watkinson also scored 62 as Edgworth posted a total of 252-5, before he took 5-44 with the ball.

Josh Fallows finished with 3-25 as the Bolton Road side dismissed their visitors for 125.

Elsewhere, Egerton recorded their third successive victory as they edged past Clifton in the GMCL’s Premier Division clash.

Tight bowling from Matt Parkinson (3-31) limited Clifton to a first innings score of 117-6.

Will Davidson and Sam Dorsey were the only batters of note with scores of 24 and 35 not out, respectively.

Parkinson then top scored with 30 when he turned his hand to the bat and wicketkeeper Daniel Partington added 29.

Gareth Cross tried his best to limit the Blackburn Road side’s response with bowling figures of 4-23, but on the final wicket Amal Dalugoda drove home the runs needed to secure victory.

Astley and Tyldesley remain second in the Division Two table despite slipping to back-to-back defeats.

Swinton Moorside were the beneficiaries at the weekend – Brad Palmer bowling 6-30 as the Gin Pit outfit were bowled out for 112.

Nathan McDonnell was the only batsman of note, scoring 30.

A&T’s Chris Ware was in decent form with the ball in the second innings with figures of 3-51, but Swinton batted their way to victory thanks to David Flatley’s unbeaten 47 and 37 from Jonathan Herreran.

However, A&T sit only two points behind league leaders Thornham with only four points separating the top seven sides.
