THE second weekend in the Premiership Division sees Walkden’s first home game for overseas star Nick Stobart who lit up the Bolton League in his first outing.

The New Zealander took a hat-trick with his first three balls for Walkden as he helped his new side to an impressive nine-wicket win at Horwich.

Stobart took four wickets for just two runs in two overs as Horwich were skittled out for just 88 on home soil, Tahir Maqsood (4-41) also in the wickets.

The pair will be looking to build on that opening-day form when Walkden host Daisy Hill tomorrow, Daisy having suffered a heavy 181-run loss at Farnworth Social Circle last weekend.

Social Circle will look to also make it two wins from two when they face Kearsley who will be looking to bounce back from a six-wicket loss at Bradshaw.

Their conquerers visit Atherton this weekend, the hosts having seen their game at Lostock last weekend abandoned.

Lostock host champions Farnworth, whose title defence got off to a winning start with a narrow two-run triumph against Westhoughton.

The Howfeners, meanwhile, entertain Horwich RMI whose batsmen will be hoping to face an easier bowling attack than that of Stobart and Maqsood last weekend.

Sunday sees several Premiership sides in Hamer Cup preliminary-round action.

Daisy Hill travel to Blackrod while Atherton host Eagley, who were relegated from the top flight last season.

Holders Westhoughton, who won the trophy for the first time in 13 years in 2017 against Farnworth Social Circle, welcome Little Hulton to St George’s Oval while Kearsley, who last won the trophy in 2009, face Tonge at Springfield Road.
