THE Bolton Cricket League is inviting applications from clubs wishing to join the league next season.

The BCL currently has 14 clubs and is looking to expand to create divisional cricket at the earliest opportunity.

In a statement issued today advertising for new clubs, the BCL describes itself as well established and highly regarded providing senior cricket at first and second 11 competitions.

It says it has long-established cup competitions for first and second teams and a thriving junior section, which includes teams at under-9s, under-11s, under-13s, under-15s and under-18s.

First 11 league and cup matches are 50 overs per team with second 11 league games played over 45 overs per side. Each club is allowed one professional or one overseas amateur and clubs must engage one of these players to satisfy league rules.

Clubs interested in applying for membership should apply in writing stating the following information:

Name of club, address of the club that cricket will be played, rumber of current teams at both senior and junior level, current league membership.

Applications should be sent to the Bolton League secretary, Mr R. Taylor, 11 Barley Brook Meadow, Bolton BL1 7HP. Email raysue11@aol.com no later than midnight on Sunday, June 14.

The application should be signed by the club chairman and secretary.
