EPL ICE HOCKEY: Manchester Phoenix have added Scott McKenzie and Jake Nurse to their 2012/13 campaign roster.

Livingston-born McKenzie,26, has joined Phoenix after a successful 25 goal season with Telford Tigers, but he has also iced for Slough Jets in the EPL and Elite League sides London Racers and Edinburgh Capitals.

McKenzie said: “I thoroughly enjoyed my two years with Telford. They are a great organisation and I wish them all the best. However, I want to have the opportunity to win trophies, and when Tony got in touch, it was a no brainer for me. Manchester are a big club and have fantastic fans and I am really looking forward to pulling on a Phoenix shirt. I am very excited about working with Tony Hand as I watched him playing for the Murrayfield Racers when I supported them as a lad and cannot wait for the season to start.”

Tony Hand said: “Scott will be a good addition to the squad. He has had two good seasons with Telford, scoring at roughly a point a game and I expect him to put up some good numbers for us. He is a good all round player who will fit in to our method of play.”

Joining McKenzie is Manchester-born forward Jake Nurse.

Nurse, 21, has come through the Phoenix junior teams and was a regular in the ENL side, as well as occasional appearances for the EPL side.

Nurse said: "I'm delighted to be joining the Phoenix EPL side. It's a fantastic opportunity to develop all aspects of my game.

"But I'm here to play a part, as well. I want to get some points on the board, and I'm certainly ready to look after myself and anyone else on the team."
