JUSSI Jaaskelainen could be a target for Italian giants, Inter Milan, if he chooses to end his 10-year love affair with Bolton Wanderers.

The Serie A leaders have joined a growing list of top European clubs to have expressed an interest in the Reebok keeper, whose contract will expire at the end of the season, unless he can agree a new deal.

Jaaskelainen, who was a target for Aston Villa in the summer, has been strongly linked with Premiership leaders Arsenal while Manchester United are reported to be keeping a watching brief.

Fenerbahce, the champions of Turkey, are also understood to have Jaaskelainen on their wanted list. But it is the Inter Milan interest - genuine, according to sources in Italy - that confirms his reputation as one of the most highly-rated keepers in Europe.

Jaaskelainen, Wanderers' longest serving player, celebrated a decade at the Reebok when he kept only his second clean sheet of the season in the scoreless draw with Middlesbrough.

The 32-year-old Finland international regards Bolton as his second home and has repeatedly dismissed speculation over his future, insisting he is focused only on keeping Wanderers in the Premier League.

Indeed, prospects of a new Reebok deal appeared to have improved this week when his goalkeeping coach and mentor, Fred Barber, signed a new contract after rejecting an offer to follow former boss Sam Allardyce to Newcastle United.

Nevertheless, if he does not agree a new contract before January 1, his representatives will be free to speak to other clubs. And, if if Inter, Arsenal or any other top European clubs come calling, Wanderers could be hard-pressed to keep him at the Reebok.

Nicolas Anelka, meanwhile, is expected to feature in France's Euro 2008 decider in Ukraine next Wednesday, against the wishes of Bolton boss Gary Megson.

The Whites' top scorer has joined up with the French squad, despite missing Wanderers' last four games with a hamstring injury.

Megson said it would be a "nightmare" if Anelka aggravated the problem while on international duty but the situiation is now ouit of hands.

Anelka will not play in France's friendly against Morocco tomorrow night, but is expected to at least be given a place on the subs' bench in Kiev where, depending on the result of Saturday's Scotland-Italy clash, Les Bleus may need to win to ensure they qualify from group B.

Megson has had some welcome good news on the injury front with Nicky Hunt and Joey O'Brien - his only two recognised right-backs - responding well to treatment.

Hunt, who has missed two games with a dislocated shoulder, could be in the reckoning for the Premiership derby against Manchester United at the Reebok on Saturday week. O'Brien, who injured a hamstring in the Carling Cup defeat by Manchester City two weeks ago, is also pushing for a recall.
