WHITES fan Les Pilling has his say on a disappointing 4-1 defeat at Blackburn . . .

Things didn't look good before kick off.

In the pre-match warm up, Bolton players rained in shots on the goal in front of the Darwen End. Few of them were on target.

That inability to hit the net, coupled with the bad habit of giving penalties away against Blackburn meant that the Wanderers were always up against it.

Yet, in the first 20 minutes of the second half, they were dominant and after Kevin Davies's equaliser, looked the more likely team to win.

Then came the second penalty, against the run of play, and heads went down, or maybe the exertions in midweek finally told, but there was only one winner from that point.

Can Bolton stay up? With the fixtures to come, only a madman would bet on it.

The problem lies in midfield. Too often, the sole attacking move is to hoof the ball two feet above the head of a heavily marked Kevin Davies. It's not a profitable tactic.

There's no pace or creativity in the side and movement is non-existent. The comments about Bolton's ugly football' were unfair when they were first made, but are now fully justified. It's no wonder that several thousand supporters have chosen to spend their time and money doing something more enjoyable than watching Bolton Wanderers.

But, the most depressing thing is that Blackburn's final two goals came from moves that Bolton couldn't possibly construct.
