Boro went ahead twice in an entertaining tussle at Gigg Lane, but were pegged back on both occasions by Karl Marginson's men.
Steve Howson took his tally for the season to 29 goals with strikes on 20 and 64 minutes, but Josh Howard and Simon Carden rescued the Rebels, who were lucky to see another Howson goal disallowed for off-side.
Both teams are back in action this afternoon.
Peter Coyne's men host Newcastle Blue Star while FC United visit Boro's nearest rivals in the league, Woodley Sports.
