EAGLEY picked up their first win of the season in the West Lancashire League Premier Division with a narrow 1-0 win on the road at Slyne with Hest.

After some great Eagley pressure the ball fell to Heath Ainscow who with only the keeper to beat made no mistake for 1-0.

Then true to form the Eagles missed two or three guilt edge chances to put the game to bed before half time.

The Eagles defended brilliantly and assistant manager Scott Derbyshire was outstanding at the back along with Simon Neary to seen out the game.

Elsewhere, in Division One, Ladybridge continue to fly the flag of the local teams in fourth spot after a 2-2 draw with Mill Hill St Peters.

Two goals inside the first half-hour left Dave Walker's side with a lot to do.

Michael McGinlay pulled one back with a good free kick from the edge of the box.

The visitors were level minutes into the second half after good work from Sam Parkinson led to McGinlay to double his tally.

Hot on their heels in sixth are Turton, fresh from their 2-1 win on the road against local rivals Tempest United in mid-week.

Dan Taylor opened the scoring for the Thomason Fold side before Matt Carter hit back.

Ally Dickson ensured the visitors went home with the points.

Just a point adrift of Turton in ninth are Tempest who on Saturday drew 2-2 with Askam United.

Stoneclough drew 1-1 with Milnthorpe Corinthians with Linford Stewart getting their goal as Ronnie Brooks side lie in fourth.

Elsewhere, Bolton County were not able to complete back-to-back wins going down 2-0 on the road at Kendal County.
