BOLTON schools under-15s made a stunning start to the season with a resounding 7-0 victory over Wigan.

And the town team looked the part as well as they finally got a new kit after having to wear tatty old strips for the last few years.

Matthew Nicholson, Adam Cormican and Ted Moulden each scored twice with Adam Walton also on target in the Greater Manchester Inter Association match at Canon Slade.

Nicholson fired Bolton ahead after latching on to a Jamie Ramwell pass after five minutes, and goalkeeper Louie Moulden ensured Bolton went into the break one up after an even first half with a great penalty save on 38 minutes.

The second half was all Bolton with Nicholson shooting them into a 2-0 lead three minutes after the break following a pass from Matthew Meskel, and Cormican making it 3-0 with a fine solo effort on 56 minutes.

Walton killed off any chance of a Wigan comeback on 65 minutes with a great finish from a corner by George Mikolajewski before it turned into a procession with Moulden converting a 20-yard free-kick, Cormican winning possession before slotting home the sixth and Moulden completing the scoring from the penalty spot.

Team manager Vinnie Baldwin thanked Lee McCarren of Westhoughton-based Forrest Ltd for donating the new kit.

The Bolton News ran a story last season about how the three town teams were playing in four and five-year-old kits and were being put to shame by their opponents from other towns wearing smart new kits.
