ONLY six BSF Over-35s Football League matches were played and 10 postponed as the weather hit the fixture schedule again on Sunday.

In Division One, Bar Lane Bowling Club beat Irlam Steel 4-1 away to move above their opponents into fifth.

Ian Marshall scored two and Mark Slone and Adam Howarth added one each for the winners with Mike Weedon scoring Irlam's goal.

Bamford Arms returned to the top on goal difference – ahead of Manor Vets whose game was postponed – with a 7-1 thrashing of Salford Waggon.

Paul Sykes scored four and Daz Smith, Sean McCann and Mark Whiteside one each for the away side.

The only game in Division Two saw a 4-1 home victory for bottom side Tavern Vets over fellow strugglers Hindley Town.

But the winners remain at the foot of the table on goal difference.

John Coogan scored two and Carlton Jordan and Simon Hayes got the others with Ste Riley scoring a consolation goal for Hindley.

The only Division Three game to beat the conditions produced nine goals as Vulcan Walkden thrashed bottom side Morning Star 7-2.

Four goals by Jason Mears and one each from Des Morris, Mark Morris and Dan Wright ensured a comfortable win for Vulcan, with James Dunn and Gary Partington on target for the visitors, who have yet to pick up a point.

A narrow 2-1 win for Bolton Wyresdale over Ainsworth B saw them go a point clear at the top of Division Four.

One point still separates third-placed Heaton Casuals and Radcliffe Old Boys B in fourth after they fought out a 4-4 draw.

Two goals for Heaton’s Chris Sutcliffe, added to by one apiece from Clint Hibbert and Rob Walsh, were cancelled out by a Nathan Connelly double and one each by Mark Owen and Jamie Glenhill for Radcliffe.
