TALENTED youngster Jeff King has been released by Wanderers after 18 months at the Macron.

An integral part of David Lee’s under-23 side that won the Professional Development League title last season, King – who had spent much of his career in non-league football – had made a successful step up and did feature three times for Phil Parkinson’s first team, making his debut in the Carabao Cup against West Ham at the London Stadium.

The attacking midfielder also featured once in the Championship, against Bristol City, and in the FA Cup defeat at home to Huddersfield.

After a meeting with manager Parkinson, King announced his departure from the club via Twitter, posting: “Would like to thank everyone involved at @OfficialBWFC for the last 18 months! Giving me the chance to prove myself, feel like I have progressed massively, enjoyed every minute of it! But time for me to go an play more league games an kick on!”

Fellow u23s players Ryan White and Cole Lonsdale also announced their departures on social media.

Eighteen-year-old defender Lonsdale posted: “After six years at the football club my time at Bolton has come to an end, been an absolute pleasure to play for this club but it’s now time for a change for the future.

“Met some ace people down the way, would like to thank all the coaching staff and the players involved with the club.”

Midfielder White said: “What an eight years it’s been at @OfficialBWFC – had some major ups and major downs but now it’s time to move on to my next chapter. Wish the club all the best.”
