WHEN Victoria Lee woke up on Saturday, little did she know she would be making history.

As she crossed the line in 267th place, on her first run at Leverhulme Park, she became the 5,000th different runner to complete the Bolton parkrun.

Many thanks to Barry 'loves a stat’ Shackleton for that one.

A total of 5,002 different runners have now run at Bolton parkrun in the four and a half years since it started.

There were 275 of them on Saturday, of whom 19 were first timers, and 52 clocked new personal best times while 18 different athletics clubs were represented.

Gareth Booth and Martyn Bell, both of Horwich RMI Harriers, and Paul Thompson of Bury AC were the first men to complete the course.

Paula Pilling (Burnden Road Runners), tiny Isabella Merritt (Bolton United Harriers & AC) and Vicki Hamer were their female counterparts, while Booth (79.58 per cent), Bell (78.62 per cent) and Isabella (78.46 per cent) also set the day’s highest age gradings.

Adam Connell and Frank Wood completed their 100th parkrun, the former having run 91 of his at Bolton, and Heather Allmark completed her 10th parkrun.

First timer at Bolton, tourist runner Carol Muir – whose home parkrun is Valentines – chose Bolton to run her 200th parkrun – the 93rd different parkrun event she’s visited.
