JUNIORS from Horwich RMI Harriers were able to bring down the curtain on an exhausting season with a series of presentations to celebrate the club's success.

They took part in the Red Rose Cross-Country Series and it was held over four events.

The U11s boys and girls and the U13 boys were all series winners in this competition.

In the U11s girls Ella Pendlebury managed a series win by topping the podium four times and she led Chloe Russell and Freya Whittle to the series win.

It was a similar story South East Lancs Cross Country Series where once again the girls of Ella, Freya and Lydia Johnson claimed yet another title.

Not satisfied with finishing there, Pendlebury contested in the much bigger league of the Mid-Lancs managing a series second overall which was such a fabulous winter result for such a strong squad.

Meanwhile, in the U11 Boys Red Rose Series, Matthew Flatters, Cain Healy, Nathan Lancaster, Toby Middleton and Finley Reid were consistently in the top 10.

This helped them over the season to keep totals down eventually claiming 39 pts when their closet rivals Leigh managed 115 pts.

Other runners Isaac Keating, Isaac Simmonite, Joe Jackson, Callum Mosley and Joshua Houghton also helped the squad in numbers.

This same squad went onto claim third in the SELCC Series and individually Flatters also went onto claim a second in the Mid Lancs Series just the same as Ella in the U11s.

Meanwhile, the U13s boys had an even better winter in claiming all three titles of Red Rose, SELCC and Mid Lancs Series.

In the Red Rose Series the team managed 63pts against Bury's 69pts.

Strong performances from Lewis Wilkes (fourth overall) and Thomas Massey (sixth) along with Luke Brindle in 11th made a strong team to claim this sweet victory.

However, if it were not for other club runners Robert Seddon, Kieran Kinealy and Jacob Glendenning helping the club score important points.

In the SELCC Series, Lewis, Thomas and Luke stayed strong to beat Leigh and much bigger club into second place.

It was in the Mid-Lancs Cross-Country series that the boys showed their true grit and determination.

It came down to the last race where the lads once again stayed strong and just beating Blackpool to win the series by a single point.

This was their biggest success by far beating all the other 14 clubs over the distance of six months.

Horwich Juniors continue their successful summer races with the Junior Jubilee one-mile race held in Rivington.

This Race which has been recognised by Run Britain is now giving young fast racers the chance to be recognised as some of the fastest one-mile racers in the UK.
