BOLTON Under-14s completed their league season with a hard-fought 15-14 victory over Trafford Metrovicks.

Josh Parry sprinted clear to open the scoring and Marcus Crompton looked as though he had broken through for the second score but was held up just short but Owen Critchlow was on hand for the second score to put Bolton 10-0 up at half time.

Bolton knew another score would probably kill off Trafford, but the opposition had other ideas.

Huge tackles from Tim Greenwood and Matthew Jones kept Trafford at bay but they would not be denied with superb handling and scored a try which was converted.

The impressive Harry Moxham got back and made a brilliant cover tackle to prevent another try and the ever-reliable Kynan Smith also tackled well to keep Trafford at bay.

Trafford were now fully in the ascendancy, dominating the forwards, and a tiring Bolton allowed Trafford another converted score which left Bolton trailing with 10 minutes to go.

But Bolton hit back and, from a line-out, stole possession and captain Marcus Crompton was on hand to barge over for the score.

Bolton Under-17s continued their winning ways with a resounding 60-0 victory over Oxton Parkonians.

Rohan Patel sprinted across the line for the opening try before Adam Hackin stormed over the line and David Price executed a great conversion to make it 12-0.

Bolton are unbeaten this season and in outstanding form, and it was just too much for Oxton.

Jonny Wallis's speed and strength were too much for Oxton and he charged forward 10 metres to cross the line, again converted by David Price.

George Lilleywhite then showed his skill and speed, sprinting for the line to score Bolton’s fifth try and push the score on to 24-0.

The next try came when Harvey Banks drove forward and passed to Tom Evans who was driven along by the pack and across the line before the try was converted by David Price.

Lilleywhite then ran nearly the full length of the pitch, timing his pass to Price perfectly for him to dive between the posts and make the half-time score 36-0 .

Jacob May made a welcome return to the team and his speed saw him nearly cross the line on two occasions.

Adam Munshi impressed in his first-ever game of rugby and Will French and Ciaran Bach produced some ferocious tackling.

James Val-Brookes dashed across the line to make the score 41-0 and Ross Denvir intercepted and ran 15 metres for the next try converted before Rohan Patel completed his hat-trick with two more tries.

The under-15s fought out a battling 10-10 draw with Vale of Lune in their BlackSticks League top-of-the-table clash.

Brandon Booth, Harry Round and Alex Tonge were immense in the front row. The second row had no replacements on the bench due to injury so there was huge responsibility on the shoulders of Darren Robinson and Joe McHugh who rose to the challenge.

The back row forwards of Jake Ryan, Jordan Griffiths and Jack Byrne were superb resulting in sustained pressure on the Vale pack which saw the best chances of the first half go to Bolton.

There was no score by half time and it was the home team who broke the deadlock with a try against the run of play.

Bolton responded with wave after wave of pressure and it paid off when good work by flying winger Joe Brooks eventually led to captain Jimmy Holland crashing over to level the score at 5-5.

Bolton went ahead when big forward Alex Tonge broke the gain line and another brilliant off-load to Jimmy Holland saw him scamper over to put Bolton ahead with five minutes to go.

Vale are not used to losing and Bolton had never beaten them before, and the home side equalised in the last minute.

The under-18s returned to action 35 days after their last game and romped to a 39-0 victory away to Oldham RUFC.

Bolton welcomed back Chris Brownlow after an injury lay-off but had to reshuffle in the backs with Adam Kazmi unavailable.

Joe Speakman put Bolton into the lead after just two minutes of the Senior Colts League game, scoring under the posts and Brownlow converting.

Brownlow touched down after 12 minutes and Ryan McClusky got the third try on 20 minutes.

Harry Stocks dived over the line from a five-metre penalty to record his first try of the season just before half time, completing a memorable weekend for him after he had made his full debut for the first team the previous day.

Brownlow got the scoreboard ticking again with a second well-taken try and Charlie Aylett rounded off yet another fine run through the heart of the Oldham defence by scoring under the posts to make Brownlow's final conversion a simpler one.

Brownlow rounded of the game by completing his hat trick.

Bolton Under-16s produced an outstanding performance to hammer Trafford Metrovicks 30-0.

James Evans crashed over for his first try after great back play, the conversion successfully kicked by Ben Turner.

Two minutes later Josh Grundy saw a gap behind the defence and chipped, raced and touched down, Turner again converting to make it 14-0.

The Bolton forwards were in fabulous form, driving upfield at every opportunity, and it eventually paid off with Dylan Harney crashing over, Turner converting to increase the lead to 21-0.

Sam Dawson added another five points on the stroke of half time, and Bolton continued their dominance in the second period.

A Cameron Richardson try and Turner conversion marked the start of the second half and Evans scored his second try – again converted by man-of-the-match Turner – two minutes later.

That saw the score revert to 0-0 and a training game in which Cian Denvir, James McDowell, Kier Kernick and Evans scored and Trafford got one.
