BOLTON Under-18s beat Fleetwood for the third time this season to make it through to the Senior Colts Lancashire Cup final.

Ryan McClusky set them on their way to a 26-19 victory when he seized on a loose ball and outpaced the cover to score in the fourth minute. Chris Brownlow was on target and Bolton looked good at 7-0.

Fleetwood replied with three tries to go 19-7 ahead with just 22 minutes played.

Josh Holmes put James Sykes over the line for a well-deserved try which Brownlow improved to make it 19-14 in the second half.

Holmes scored wide out to bring the scores level.

With just two minutes left Tom Hill put Sam Smith into space and his power, pace and determination did the rest as he put Bolton back in front when it mattered. Brownlow calmly slotted the extras and Bolton were on their way to the Lancashire Cup final in two weeks against Widnes.

The under-12s took on Eccles and Sedgley Park in a three-way tournament on the first-team pitch at Sedgley Park.

The opening match was one-sided with the twin strikeforce of Leon Hodgson and Oliver Keogh running in four and three tries, respectively, building on great work from George Jackson and Ben Price. Tyler Maley ran in a further try to result in a 8-1 win.

The second match against old rivals Eccles was a different prospect as their well drilled physical approach tested the Bolton defence.

Luke Davies and Connor Whittle along with James Hopkinson and Cameron Halliday were rock-like in the ruck and won ball well in the breakdown. Hodgson added to his tally for the day and Sam MacDowell showed sharp intelligence in diving on to a loose ball to score, but Bolton went down by four tries to two.

The u11s won the Alex Hulme Foundation Cup at Sale RUFC.

They beat Rossendale 1-0 in the opening game with a try by Thomas Derbyshire before three further tries from him and one each from Nathan Robinson and Euan James gave them a 6-1 win against Macclesfield.

They continued to progress with a 4-1 victory over a strong Didsbury side, thanks to two tries from Joe Jackson, and one each from Derbyshire, and Finlay Harper.

In the final they gained revenge for a defeat earlier in the season to Leigh RUFC by beating them 4-2 with tries from Robinson, Derbyshire and James.

Bolton U16s completed a clean sweep of victories with a 12-7 win at home to Sedgley Park whom they had never beaten previously thanks to tries by Ben Turner – plus a conversion – and player-of-the-match Morgan Skeels-Caldwell.
