NUMBER one seed Amy Hadjinicolaou enjoyed a comfortable victory in the Ladies' Singles at the Bolton Tennis Championships last night with an unblemished 6-0, 6-0 triumph against Susan Welch.

After a fine display, Hadjinicolaou will now face Hayley Warrington in the semi-final after she beat Hattie Morley 6-1,6-3 in her last-eight clash.

The other ladies semi-final will see Lostock's Louise Taylor play second seed Rachel Branagan of Hawkshaw.

Branagan overcame Emily Digby 6-3, 6-1 to reach the last four, while Taylor had a tougher match, beating third seed Rebecca Baldwin 7-5, 4-6, 6-3.

Another close handicap match came in the Men's Doubles event.

Junior pairing Matthew Cavalier and Ben Tinniswood took on Nathan Beaumont and Andy Maher and came through in two sets – 6-4, 6-4.

A dry evening saw full courts at the Leverhulme Pavilion as the tournament begins to reach the business end.

The handicap events are now well under way and Graham Walton and Christina Millington took on Bradshaw's Nick and Kathleen Hadjinicolaou.

Walton and Millington took the first set 6-2, but then failed to take match points at 5-4 up in the second set.

However, they managed to creep home 6-5 to take the match and progress.
