METRO maintained their 100 per cent winning record with a hard-fought 12-6 victory over Deane B.
The second-placed side ultimately proved too strong for their hosts – who have drawn one and lost two of their opening three matches in Section C.
Metro A’s first couple, Marie Glynn and Mike Horrocks, won 21-18 in the first of their games against Deane’s second pair, Pat Beck and Pravin Pindolia, who claimed the second 21-19.
The next encounter was also shared when Metro’s second couple, Carole Lanham and David Smith, won the first 21-19 and Sam Robertson and Bharath Bhudia took the second 22-20.
Eighth-placed Metro’s third couple, Joanne Holden and Jack Milner, won their games against Bharthi Bhudia and Mahesh Kerai 21-19, 21-9 when the third couples met.
In the top couples’ clash, Deane’s Robertson and Bhudia came out on top 21-19, 21-15 against Glynn and Horrocks.
Beck and Pindolia then beat Lanham and Smith 22-20, 21-14 to give Deane a 6-4 lead going into the level doubles.
The first pair of ladies’ games was shared, Deane’s Bhudia and Robertson claiming the first 21-19, and Holden and Glynn taking the second 22-20.
The first pair of men’s games was also shared when Metro’s Milner and Horrocks took the first 21-17 and Kerai and Bhudia the second 21-18.
This meant the match would depend on the two final levels sets.
Deane’s Bhudia and Beck won the second pair of ladies’ games 21-13, 21-15 against Holden and Lanham and Deane also took the final pair of men’s games, Kerai and Pindolia beating Milner and Smith 21-15, 21-9.
