WITH only four matches played in the Bolton at Home Sunday League, Division One title-chasers Astley Bridge Elite moved back to top spot after a 5-1 win at Bridge Celtic.

Astley Bridge dominated from start to finish against their Adlington-based hosts and took the lead within the first five minutes through a well-taken goal from leading scorer Chris Donoghue.

The score remained 1-0 up to half time but after the restart Astley Bridge kept up the pressure.

After 10 minutes they doubled their lead through a superb headed goal from a corner by Layton Migas.

Donoghue then scored two more goals in the next 15 minutes to complete yet another hat-trick – his sixth treble of the campaign.

Bridge Celtic scored a consolation goal through Greg Travers, however, with minutes remaining Migas scored his second and Astley Bridge's fifth to complete the rout.

Farnworth United continued their improved form by edging out Bradford Arms A in a hard-fought 3-2 victory.

Bradford Arms took the lead via an own goal in the first half and on the half-hour mark they doubled their lead through Dominic Sharples.

Just before half time, Farnworth pulled one back through an excellent strike by Gaz Bentley.

The goal seemed to inspire Farnworth and they started the second half with more gusto, and within five minutes Bentley scored the equaliser.

Farnworth were now on top and with 10 minutes to go Chris Merit tapped in the goal which proved to be the winner.

In Division Two, Manny Road remain top of the table thanks to a hard-fought 3-2 victory against Lostock Arms. Lostock, who by their own admission have had a tough start this season, took the league leaders all the way after starting the game on top.

Within 20 minutes they were leading 2-0 with two goals from Owen Wood.

With only 15 minutes left Manny Road started their comeback through Lee Hemmings and then two goals within three minutes from Ryan Aspinall and Jordon Stanford gave the leaders victory.

It looks like Manny Road will be pushed all the way this year by New Bury FC.

Graham Sharples’ side had an excellent 14-1 victory against Railway FC to stay second in Division Two.

Brent Helliwell had an amazing day, scoring five, with the other goals coming from Craig Slone (two), Arron Sharples (two), Charlie Scholes (two), Connor Bowling, Ash Haslam and Sam Bradley.
