FOUR members of Gouldings Martial Arts club staged a gold rush at the WKKC World Kick Boxing Championships.

The Bolton quartet of Umesh Patel, aged 46, 12-year-olds Dylan Barrett and James Gregory, and Zak Hutchinson, aged 10, won six golds, one silver and three bronze medals in total at the event in Dublin.

Barrett, currently rated the top junior fighter in the world as the holder of world titles with two different organisations, won the 40kg age 11-12 points fighting, the 40kg age 11-12 continuous kick boxing and 40kg boys team 11-12 points categories.

It has been a successful year for the youngster who won the first Bolton Primary Sports Award and holds nine world titles.

The World Championships is the toughest competition on the kick boxing calendar with more than 1,500 elite competitors in all age categories from juniors to veterans.

Fellow member of the Farnworth club, Patel, now holds three world titles after winning the veterans' 75kg points and 85kg continuous titles in Dublin.

Gregory struck gold in the 35kg age 11-12 continuous event and bronze in both the 35kg age 11-12 points and 11-12 kata to add to the world title he already holds, while Hutchinson fought his way to silver in the 40kg age 10 and under boys' team continuous and 40kg age 10 and under continuous events.
