BURNDEN’S Andy Duffy battled through a large, competitive field to claim third place in the M55 class at the Winter Warmer 10k at Witton Park, Blackburn.

His time of 46mins 23secs saw him finish well up the order in 131st overall place out of 535 finishers.

Adrian Ashburn completed the course in 49:35 and Gayle Gerrard crossed the line in 53:34.

Thirteen members joined more than 2,500 other runners in Southport for the popular Mad Dog 10k race.

Tony Wall led them home in a time of 44:55 with Jackie Oakes the first female club member to cross the line in 47:28.

Dawn Evans travelled to the Lake District for the Montane 13 Grizedale Half Marathon.

The route is a mixture of gravel, trail and fire roads, winding its way through the Grizedale Forest with stunning views over Coniston Water.

Evans negotiated the tough course successfully in 3:06:15.
