THE postponed BSF Over 35s Football League Divisional Cup quarter-finals were played at the weekend with second-bottom Digmoor shocking title-chasing hosts Bar Hill in the Division One Cup.

Goals by Alan Brady, John Power and Ian Jones sealed progress despite Barry Massey and Ste Hughes scoring for Bar Hill.

Salford Victoria, also chasing the title, made no mistake against bottom-placed Turton Bay Mare, thrashing them 9-1. Tony Weall scored five while Marc Bailey and Carl O’Malley weighed in with two apiece.

Mersey Valley A hosted North Walkden who are a point behind them in the league table, but two Michael Coates goals and one each from Andy Macintosh and Craig Stevens was enough to win the game despite Morris and Morrison netting for North Walkden.

Bamford Arms and Mitchells Unicorn completed the Division One ties and home side Bamford progressed to the semi-finals by winning 4-2. Nicky Hands and Darren Smith each scored two while Arnold scored for Mitchells and an own goal gave them their second.

Both games in the Division Two Cup saw Radcliffe teams progress.

Paul Murray (two), Ian Shoreman and Abiduwdin gave Radcliffe Old Boys A a 4-0 victory over Golborne Parkside and Radcliffe Vets also scored four in beating BLGC. Damion Keegan and Tom Dawson scored one each and Adam Greenhalgh a brace in their 4-1 victory.

In the Division Three Cup, Atherton Town won 5-1 at Ainsworth B, Ste Anderton scoring a hat-trick with Martin Jordan and Pete Carson netting one each while Gareth Harrison bagged a consolation for Ainsworth.

Elsewhere, Radcliffe Old Boys B won at Home Guard Failsworth thanks to a Paul Bentley penalty, but the game at Bolton Wyresdale saw nine goals and went to extra time before Elton Liberals won 5-4. Lee Connell scored two, and Jack and Owen Coyle one each for Failsworth, but the odd goal, which made the difference, was an own goal.

Four league matches were fitted in and a Division One game brought forward from this weekend saw Hindsford Vets stay top after a comfortable 6-0 win against Queen Lizzy. Dave Fashou and Kev Gall each score twice with Ian Bentley and Dave Hart making it six.

Astley Bridge stretched their lead in Division Two as Mark Sloane, Paul Fletcher and Tony Beech scored, while Dean netted a consolation effort for Old Boltonians.

Heaton Vets showed no mercy against luckless Deans Youth and Ladies and won 8-1. Chris Sutcliffe scored six as Glenn Miller and John Armour added one each.

It was not a good day for Bury Seniors in their Division Three game. Steve Goodridge and Noel Worsley were on target but a Tommy Cannon hat-trick plus goals from David Mulqueeny and Carl Tollady gave Heaton Casuals victory to keep them second.
