HORWICH Ladies sealed the Greater Manchester Ladies Division Four title in style with a resounding 10-0 victory over third-placed Prescott Ladies third team.

Becks Morrissey and woman-of-the-match Zoe Bluer both scored four goals with Donna Vinten getting the other two.

Bluer opened the scoring with a reverse-stick shot and Morrissey doubled the home side's lead when she converted an accurate pass from Heather Glynn.

Vinten supplied the pass for Morrissey to make it three before Vinten opened her account when she swiped the ball between the keepers legs after good work from Bluer.

Vinten returned the favour shortly after for Bluer to get her second, and the latter completed a first-half hat-trick to give her side a comfortable 6-0 lead going into the break.

Good work at the back by Chrissy Sanderson and Kerry Mahon denied the visitors any chance of getting back into the game, and Vinten made it 7-0.

Morrissey completed her hat-trick with a perfectly-timed strike after being slipped the ball by Vinten following a short corner by Shannon Leeson.

Bluer got the ninth and Morrissey equalled her team-mate's four-goal tally with an excellent finish after a pass from Alicia Fairclough.

Horwich men claimed local bragging rights with a 5-1 victory over Bolton’s third team.

Horwich are currently sixth in North West Hockey League Division Five North/South although fourth place is still possible with two games remaining.

The first half was dominated by Horwich possession and they took the lead early on with a strong finish from the edge of the penalty area from Andrew Robertson.

Bolton were a threat on the counter-attack and it took an excellent goalline clearance from Will Aitken to keep Horwich ahead.

Horwich doubled their advantage with a goal from Tony Sanderson after he rounded the Bolton goalkeeper.

Bolton started the second half strongly and for 15 minutes a strong rearguard action was necessary to keep them at bay before a third goal by Matt Kirk took the wind out of Bolton’s fightback.

Left winger Paul Buckland made it 4-0 after making an excellent run inside the full-back.

After centre-back Will Aitken deflected the ball into his own net to give Bolton a consolation goal Horwich completed the rout when a cross from the right was deflected by a Bolton player before Matt Kirk got the final touch.
