NEWLY-promoted Burning Desire met the impenetrable wall of Flixton Cricket Club A in the Bolton Table Tennis League Premier Division last week and were subsequently dispatched 27-3.
The three-point morsel was equally shared between the three Burning Desire players.
The other stone wall, Glodwick TTC, was met by Little Lever Cricket Club A who lost 27- 8.
Flixton Cricket Club B just edged out Wharton 17-15 thanks to nine points from Tony Bates. Hilton A beat Ladybridge A 25-12 with nines from Mark Gibson and Keiron Beswick. Radcliffe Cricket Club overcame Nomads 22-13 helped by a nine from Brian Hallsworth. Ramsbottom Town A took on their own newly promoted B team winning 18-12 helped by a nine from Michael Moir.
In Division One, Hilton D outplayed Farnworth SC A 24-5 with nine points from Matthew Fishwick.
Hilton B also went to town with a 26-4 victory over Heaton Cricket Club A with nines from David Andrews and Allan Cowley.
Closer matches saw Ramsbottom Town C beat their own D team 19-15 despite a resisting nine from Keith Howarth.
Little Lever Cricket Club B beat Hilton E 23-14 helped by a nine from Roy Costello. Coburg beat Wingates 23-13 with a nine from Kevin Chapman and Meadow Ben A had a close 20-16 victory over Hilton C despite a resisting nine from Andrew Morey.
In Division Two, St Paul’s Peel outplayed Farnworth SC B 22-8 with a nine from Lee Devenport.
Top Spinners had a maximum points 27-5 victory over Meadow Ben C, while unbeaten Meadow Ben B had a 24-5 victory over Farnworth SC C with nines form Steven Robertson and Mike Heaton.
Bolton TTC A had their third win of the season, beating their own B team 22-9 with a nine from Nayem Alam.
Closer encounters saw Brass Zone just outdo Heaton Cricket Club B 19-15 despite a resisting nine from David Jones, and Polonia Club A had their third narrow win of the season, 19-16 against Ladybridge B.
Division Three’s Meadow Hill A had a narrow 20-18 victory over Hilton F with man-of-the-match Roy Platt winning nine points and the only member of his team able to handle the curved balls thrown up by Jeff Saunders.
Meadow Hill B just missed out, losing 19-16 to Farnworth SC D assisted by a nine from Mike Ferguson and giving them their first win of the season.
Albany suffered their third defeat in as many weeks, going down 19-14 to Hilton G assisted by a nine from their man-of-the-match Dimitar Petrov.
It was youth over experience when juniors Hilton H trounced Meadow Ben D 26-5 with nines from Nathan Donaldson and Jei Makino.
Walkden Methodists also hammered new team Polonia Club B 25-3 with nines from Carl Bennett and Steve Kelsall in their third win of the season.
Another three-time winner Ladybridge C had a 21-9 beat Irlam Steel SC with a nine from Brian Greenhalgh.
