FOURTEEN Lostockers headed to the Yorkshire Dales last weekend to compete in the Haworth Hobble and Dentdale 14.

Josie Greenhalgh was the first club member home, and sixth female overall, in a time of 5hrs 48mins 9secs at the 32-mile Haworth Hobble ultramarathon, which starts and finishes in Haworth and takes in Calderdale and Stoodley Pike before returning via Heptonstall and Crimsworth Dean.

She was closely followed by Albert Sunter and partner Toney Donnelly in 5:50:31, which placed them fifth pair.

Mike Ernill finished in 6:33:24 as he continues his preparation for the Bob Graham later in the summer.

Brian Halton clocked 6:40:08, with Mark Shuttleworth and Jason Tonge finishing in 7:21:33 and 7:21:34, respectively.

The village of Dent was the setting for the Dentdale 14 where Stuart Hatton continued to show good form, finishing in 1:52:02 to lead the Lostockers home.

He was followed home by Claire Shewbridge 2:10:05, David Wilcock 2:15:46, Mark Checkley 2:16:46, Anthony Wilcock 2:17:47, Paul Speed 2:20:21 and Kate Rotheram 2:41:21.

In Rivington, the Firefighters 2 Up Duathlon marked the start of the multi-sport season.

Teams of two start with a tough 5k trail run around Rivington before embarking on a similarly energy-sapping bike ride that includes the infamous Sheep House Lane, Anglezarke and White Coppice, before a repeat of the run.

Andy Laycock and his partner finished in 2:46:53, followed by Neil Shelmerdine in 2:57:02, Cathy Stratton and James Jackson in 3:02:31 and Paul Walton and partner in 3:23:15.
