THIS week's delve into The Bolton News picture archives has thrown up this photograph from November 1979 of Park United football team.

The information accompanying the picture says the team were showing improved form after a lean start in the Bolton Combination's Premier Division.

Are you in the line-up or did you play for Park United?

Do you recognise anyone on the photograph?

Email david.pye@nqnw.co.uk with any recollections.

THE second picture was published last Thursday and features a Greenall United side from May 1978.

Reader Gary Shuttleworth got in touch and said: "I was captain of the team shown in the picture.

"The names are, back from left, Paul Russell, Andy Wright, John Howlin, Andy Westwell, Dave Mansell, Keith Clayton, Dave Lewis, Chris Harrison, Bob Shuttleworth (dad and manager); front, Gary Woodward, Steve Snape, me, Pete Barlow, Dave Leonard and Gary Whelan.

"After winning the double, we represented the Bolton Boys Federation in the Lancashire FA Knockout Trophy and defeated Whitehill, Man City's junior side, in the final.

"It was a side with no weaknesses."

Chris Conway also emailed: "I recognised some of the players on the team photo.

"I played at Thornleigh College with Paul Russell who is on the back row, far left, and Dave Leonard, who is on the front row, second from the right.

"I also played in the Bolton Town team with Andy Wright, who is on the back row, second left, Andy Westwell, back row, fourth left, and Pete Barlow, front row, third from right.

"The manager was Bob Shuttleworth, a great guy with a heart of gold, and his son Gary Shuttleworth is third from left on the front row.

"The goalkeeper was Dave Mansley.

"I played some games for the team but the Bolton Boys Federation was played on a Saturday afternoon then, and it meant a game for the school in the morning and then another game in the afternoon, which we often did."
