EAGLEY Quins were double trophy winners when the finals weekends were held in the BSF Ladies’ Hockey League.

They claimed the Davenport Cup and Carol Ainscow Section B Cup, with Roydon A winning the Steele Cup and Seddons lifting the Carol Ainscow Section A Cup.

The historic Steele Cup, which was first contested in 1922, saw Roydon beat holders Little Lever A 3-1.

Roydon, who failed to convert any of three penalty corners, broke the deadlock after 12 minutes with a Jackie Walton goal.

Little Lever hit straight back and equalised within a minute when Chloe Murphy pounced after a shot had rebounded off a post.

Roydon's more open game in the second half put them in the ascendancy as they piled the pressure on the Little Lever defence and won a number of penalty corners.

Vickie Hill restored their lead before Walton sealed the victory with the third goal.

It was an all-Eagley affair in the Davenport Cup final with Quins resoundingly beating Tornadoes 6-1 in the final.

With both teams missing players Tornadoes found themselves under constant pressure and having to rely on their goalkeeper to keep the score down.

Roydon A were unable to make it a double in the Carol Ainscow Cup Section A Cup final when they bowed to league champions Seddons 3-0.

Ann Truffas scored the first goal just before half time when she fired in a rebound off the keeper.

A Justine Robinson goal from a penalty corner and a second from Truffas completed the scoring.

Eagley Quins retained the Carol Ainscow Section B Cup with a 1-0 win against Little Lever B with a goal by Sue Booth two minutes into the second half.
